80s music icon Taylor Dayne has admitted to one thing heartbreaking amid her colon cancer battle.

The 63-year-old Grammy-nominated singer, recognized for hits like Love Will Lead You Back, has revealed she went to Hawaii “to die” after she acquired the diagnosis in July 2022.

“I was at the Blue Note in Hawaii because I said I’m going to go there to die,” she advised Parade. “[I said], ‘I need to keep in Hawaii. I’ll go there, and I promise you… Let me play the Blue Note. I’ll stroll on stage. I’ll sit at night time in my little stool, and I promise you, I’ll go back and forth [to the hospital there].'”

Dayne previously said that she underwent surgery to remove 10 inches of her colon.

Despite the procedure being a success, as she was declared cancer-free without any chemo or radiation, it led to a post-op infection that put her in the hospital for weeks.

The singer, who has remained cancer-free, also divulged some details about the new music she’s been working on.

“I started new music about a month ago,” she said, teasing that she may soon be touring.

Dayne added: “Big, big summer plans for August, September. The new music we’re working on. I think an album’s actually in the works. I spoke to my management about it, and we’re getting such interesting feedback that we might put [out] a lot more.”

Last September, Dayne made a special guest appearance in the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelorette, starring leading lady Joan Vassos.

She kicked off a prom group date by performing her 1987 hit Tell It to My Heart.

Dayne’s appearance was curious as contestant Jordan, 61, revealed to Joan that he went on a date with the pop star five years ago.

After the group date, Joan was left stunned after hearing Jordan’s history.

She told viewers in a confessional: “Jordan tells me he went on a date with Taylor Dayne 5 years in the past. Crazy! I imply, he dated Taylor Dayne.”

Jordan approached Dayne during their time on the show to ask if she’d remembered him. Dayne confirmed that she did and the pair enjoyed a catch-up.

Dayne told The U.S. Sun she enjoyed her experience on the reality dating series. “I cherished it,” she said. “Being on the show was enjoyable.”

The singer also revealed that producers broached the subject of her potentially joining the show as a contestant.

“I advised [the producers] I had a boyfriend,” she said. “But they pointed on the market was no ring on my finger, so I just mentioned, ‘Listen, guys, whatever. I never say never.'”
