Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered a review of military standards, together with a transfer in the direction of harsher restrictions on fitness, physique composition and grooming.

The Biden administration loosened restrictions on these standards, however now it appears Hegseth desires to take it in a totally different direction.

“High standards are what made the United States military the greatest fighting force on the planet,” Hegseth wrote in a memo to Pentagon officers.

“The power of our military is our unity and our shared objective. We are made stronger and more disciplined with high, uncompromising, and clear standards.”

“We must remain vigilant in maintaining the standards that enable the men and women of our military to protect the American people and our homeland as the world’ s most lethal and effective fighting force,” the Pentagon chief added.

“Our adversaries are not growing weaker, and our tasks are not growing less challenging.”

Hegseth had controversial opinions on his public record, leading to obstacles during his confirmation hearing.

“I’m straight up just saying we should not have women in combat roles. It hasn’t made us more effective. Hasn’t made us more lethal. Has made fighting more complicated,” he said in a podcast hosted by Shawn Ryan on Nov. 7.

He said women have a place in the military, just not in special operations, artillery, infantry, and armor units.

In his book, he said women have performed well in dangerous support roles during war, but “women in the infantry — women in combat on purpose — is another story.” He adds, “women cannot physically meet the same standards as men.”

He said, “Dads push us to take risks. Moms put the training wheels on our bikes. We need moms. But not in the military, especially in combat units.”

His views riled some members of Congress.

Questioned aggressively about his stance on women in combat by senators, Hegseth said he supports women in the military but wants to review military standards to make sure they are not lowered to accommodate women.

He explained the change between his previous comments and his new statements by saying, “writing a e book is totally different than being secretary of protection.”

On the “Megyn Kelly Show” in early December, Hegseth mentioned he cares solely that military standards are maintained. Women serve in fight, he mentioned, and, “if we have the right standard and women meet that standard, roger. Let’s go.”

An Army veteran who rose to the rank of main and served in fight in Iraq and Afghanistan, Hegseth, 44, says he believes that standards have declined and that efforts to develop range, equity and inclusion have pushed white males away.

He complains in his newest e book that “woke” generals and the leaders of the elite service academies have left the military dangerously weak and “effeminate” by selling DEI.

He says, “the next commander in chief will need to clean house.”

“Turns out, all the ‘diversity’ recruiting messages made certain kids — white kids — feel like they’re not wanted,” he mentioned in his e book.

If confirmed, he has mentioned there will probably be no more “social justice, politically correct approaches to how we fight and conduct wars.” Instead, he mentioned, “this is about lethality, meritocracy, readiness.”
