My notion of “experts” and information took a precipitous flip soon after COVID lockdowns pressured us to put on masks and maintain six toes of distance between each different. Cops had been chasing down surfers for driving the waves without a masks. Open-air parks had been shut down. We had been advised that “data” was behind the “six-foot” distance narrative. That, however, was just a delusion. It was created by a teenager who made it up for a high faculty science project. “Experts” at the CDC adopted that delusion, repeated and it turned a “fact” without a basis. Data that sounds “too good to be true” is often just nonsense with footnotes to the footnotes.  

Twenty years in the past, a UCLA examine on opiate addicts used falsified information. The UCLA researcher stole grant money and claimed he interviewed people he had never met. Not to be outdone, 10 years in the past, one other UCLA researcher falsified information on homosexual marriages. Michael LaCour was a political science graduate scholar and claimed that he had carried out surveys and canvassed 10,000 people, paying the canvassers $100 per interview. The examine was printed in Science Magazine. Apparently no one at Science Mag or any reviewers had bothered to put pen to paper and calculate the fee of the examine. Simple math: $100 x 10,000 is a million {dollars}. Grad college students never have that sort of money to spend. Ever. And there was the consequence of the examine. The outcomes flew in the face of every earlier examine to date.   

LaCour had made it up. But his made-up examine made it into Science Magazine. 

Liars and information cheats should not new. In 2022 the estimate of information fraud was about two % to 46 % on submitted papers pre-publication. That’s a lot of cheats dishonest.

Harvard had a status for integrity. At least, that is what I used to be advised to imagine. Harvard’s previous president appears to have falsified her PhD dissertation, and it value her her job. RedState’s Jennifer Van Laar wrote:

Now Rufo has introduced documentation indicating that Gay might need plagiarized components of her Ph.D. dissertation, which violates Harvard’s insurance policies on educational integrity.  

Harvard is back in the “integrity news.” Its “Honesty” Professor was apparently dishonest. According to the New York Post:  

A famend Harvard University professor was stripped of her tenure and fired after an investigation discovered she fabricated information on a number of research targeted on dishonesty.  

Francesca Gino, a celebrated behavioral scientist at Harvard Business School, was let go after the college’s high governing board decided she tweaked observations in 4 research so that their findings boosted her hypotheses, GHB reported. 

Gino was famend for producing research on dishonesty. However, information bloggers at “Data Colada” reviewed her research and discovered that information had been clearly manipulated. Harvard put Gino on “administrative leave.” She responded by submitting a lawsuit: 

In response, Gino denied the allegations and filed a $25 million lawsuit against the college, Data Colada bloggers, and Datar. She alleged invasion of privateness, gender discrimination, and defamation in her go well with, and that the accusations had irreparably broken her profession and status.  

Last September, Gino’s defamation go well with against Data Colada and Harvard was dismissed. Gino has also claimed Title IX discrimination.  

Gino pointed fingers at analysis assistants and “outside tampering” by somebody with “malicious intentions.” However, in 2023 Harvard’s investigations didn’t discover any evidence to back up her claims. There was no information to back her dangerous information.  

Nonetheless Gino claims she is innocent: 

“There is one thing I know for sure: I did not commit academic fraud. I did not manipulate data to produce a particular result.” 

Gino’s tenure was withdrawn, and she was terminated by Harvard. Have honesty and integrity been restored at the Ivy League establishment?

Nah. Claudine Gay is no longer the president of Harvard, but they still make use of her. Gay is the “Wilbur A. Cowett Professor of Government and of African and African-American Studies.” It appears Harvard has ranges of dishonesty tolerance.
