Step by Steps Christine Lakin looks | TV Shows

Christine Lakin has come a long way since starring in the 1991 hit sitcom Step by Step.

Several child actors from the 1990s, like NASCAR driver Frankie Muniz, have deviated away from Hollywood but a few, like Kieran Cullkin, have stayed and become very successful winning awards like Best Supporting Actor at the Academy Awards.

Amongst the fortunate ones is Christine Lakin, who made her debut during ABC’s TGIF lineup.

At just 12 years old, the actress was cast as Alicia, the daughter of Frank Lambert, played by Patrick Duffy, a divorced contractor who falls in love and marries a widowed beautician.

Step by Step was a hit for seven years before it was cancelled due to declined ratings.

The directors were impressed by her cry-on-cue performance and had remembered her three months later when they started casting for Step by Step.

“I come home from school and my dad says they want me to audition for this role, for ‘Step by Step,'” Lakin recalled. “I said, ‘You’re crazy.’”

“When I found out I was going to be on this show that was in the ‘TGIF’ time slot [I said], ‘That’s it. I’ve made it,’” the actress added.

“It was overwhelming…it was very cool because I was that fan. I was the kid going home to watch Full House and Perfect Stranger. I would have sleepovers Friday night and my mom would say, ‘What do you want to eat?’ Pizza. ‘What do u wanna do?’ Watch TGIF.”
