Courteney Cox has opened up about her struggle to recall filming the iconic TV show Friends. The star, who celebrates her 61st birthday today (June 15), is best known for her role as Monica Geller on the NBC smash hit that ran from 1994 to 2004.

Alongside Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, and Matt Le Blanc, Courteney became a global sensation through her part in ‘Friends.

Yet, despite a decade on the much-loved sitcom, Courteney has admitted that her memories of the experience are surprisingly sparse.

In a candid conversation with Sunday Today, the actress behind the Scream franchise shared that she felt lost during the HBO Max ‘Friends’ reunion special aired in 2021 due to her fuzzy recollection of the show’s details.

“I should’ve watched all 10 seasons because when I did the reunion and was asked questions, I was like, ‘I don’t remember being there’,” she confessed, I don’t remember filming so many episodes.”

The medical examiner concluded that his death was caused by the “acute effects of ketamine”. In the weeks following Matthew’s untimely departure, Courteney composed a heartfelt homage to her former colleague.

Accompanying a video snippet of Monica and Chandler from Friends, she penned: “I am so grateful for every moment I had with you, Matty, and I miss you every day. When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could share.

“For now, here’s one of my favorites. To give a little backstory, Chandler and Monica were supposed to have a one-night fling in London. But because of the audience’s reaction, it became the beginning of their love story.

“In this scene, before we started rolling, he whispered a funny line for me to say. He often did things like that. He was funny and he was kind.”

While marking the 20th anniversary of the popular sitcom’s series finale, Courteney admitted that she feels Matthew’s presence often. “He visits me a lot, if we believe in that,” she shared during a chat with CBS Sunday Morning.

“I talk to my mom, my dad, and Matthew. I feel like there are a lot of people that, I think, guide us.”
