Joe Rogan names the one man who would beat Khamzat | MMA News

Khamzat Chimaev received the UFC middleweight title on Saturday to prolong his undefeated file to 15-0, but Joe Rogan does not think about him unbeatable.

Despite many already believing him to be one of the best in the sport, ‘Borz’ has now established himself as a true pound-for-pound standout. The 31-year-old showcased dominant grappling against former champion Dricus Du Plessis in the UFC 319 curtain nearer on August 16.

While his efficiency was spectacular, Khamzat Chimaev might have a downside awaiting him in the 185 lbs division. According to Joe Rogan, UFC newcomer Reinier De Ridder might pose a critical menace to Chimaev’s title reign.

De Ridder has been nothing short of spectacular since his transfer to the octagon from ONE Championship. In just 9 months, the Dutchman has amassed 4 wins in the UFC, and hoping to add a fifth straight victory when he collides with Anthony Hernandez in October.

Giving the grappler his flowers, Joe Rogan named De Ridder as a potential downside for Khamzat Chimaev.

“Reinier De Ridder, in particular, given his ability to grapple on the ground, and also his ability to land shots standing,” Rogan said when referencing who might problem Chimaev for his title during the post-fight broadcast.

“Particularly that knee he lands. That is nasty… Toughness, experience, he throws those combinations with that long lead-in knee. He’s interesting.”

Former UFC middleweight kingpin Luke Rockhold agrees with Joe Rogan.

Rockhold named Reinier De Ridder among the names of fighters who might dethrone Chimaev of his title.

“I don’t like to give him much credit because he’s not that good but I still think a guy like Paulo Costa would pose problems.”

“His wrestling defense is not bad and look at what he did against Yoel Romero…”

“In reality, I like De Ridder. He’s probably the number one choice for this thing, for sure.”
