New PGA Tour boss makes his feelings clear on LIV | Golf News

Brian Rolapp has made his place crystal clear relating to the PGA Tour’s potential merger with LIV Golf, as six gamers obtain recent roles within his group.

Rolapp serves as the PGA Tour’s newly appointed CEO, having been named to the function after twenty years with the NFL. The govt will assume the daily operations from Jay Monahan, the Tour’s Commissioner, who will shift his consideration toward his roles on the PGA Tour Policy Board and PGA Tour Enterprises Board.

One of the key tasks Rolapp must deal with includes the potential union between the Tour and the Saudi Arabian-funded league. The incoming CEO, however, revealed his perspective on the matter and outlined where his priorities lie in advancing the Tour’s future development.

“Yeah, I have not spoken to anyone from the Public Investment Fund,” he told reporters. “I’ve been here for three weeks, so my focus has obviously been on the Tour and focusing on the Tour and in learning and starting to develop a bit of a vision for the future.

“Part of those conversations have been with our companions at the DP World Tour. I spent some time with Guy [Kinnings] last week. I believe we have now an investment in the DP World Tour. I believe golf is a global sport; we all know that. We have fairly a bit of European gamers on the Tour.

“I think it’s an important partnership that we want to figure out how to grow. I think conversations with them and how they might fit in a new competitive model will certainly be part of this committee’s work, so we’ll continue to work on that.”

Along related traces, Rolapp outlined that his main goal was to guarantee the PGA Tour stayed the premier golf circuit globally.

“I think my primary focus is going to be on strengthening the Tour, and blank sheet of paper means blank sheet of paper. Whatever does that, I’ll pursue aggressively. That’s how I view it,” he continued.

He concluded: “Look, I believe I’m going to focus on what I can control. I’d offer to you that the best assortment of golfers in the world are on the PGA Tour. I believe there’s a bunch of metrics that exhibit that, from rankings to viewership to whatever you need to decide. I’m going to lean into that and strengthen that.

“I will also say that to the extent we can do anything that’s going to further strengthen the PGA Tour, we’ll do that, and I’m interested in exploring whatever strengthens the PGA Tour.”
