Trump names Democratic-led city as next to be | Political News

President Donald Trump has named Chicago as the next city to be focused in a controversial crime crackdown that started earlier this month in Washington, DC.

During a press convention at the Oval Office on Friday, Trump said he would broaden the crackdown to embrace Chicago, claiming the Democratic-led city’s residents had been “screaming for us to come.”

“We’ll go to another location and we’ll make it safe also. Chicago is a mess, you have an incompetent mayor…and we’ll straighten that one out probably next,” he said.

“African Americans ladies, beautiful ladies, are saying ‘please President Trump, come to Chicago'” he added.

Trump prompt that after Chicago, he would “help with New York.” He added that he “hadn’t had to convey in the common army” in the country’s capital, but that he was “prepared to do” that.

The announcement comes after the president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., suggested that the crime crackdown should be expanded to include Phoenix and Seattle.

“Maybe we must always roll out the tour to Portland, Seattle, the other what we might call c—hole cities of the nation,” he told Newsmax on Thursday.

“Not because they’re c—holes but because Democrats made them so, possibly we’re gonna broaden this because it is type of fascinating when a very left-leaning base is definitely encouraging these sorts of insurance policies.”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Friday ordered National Guard troops patrolling the streets of Washington to start carrying guns, in a dramatic escalation of Trump’s federal intervention into policing the city.

Nearly 2,000 National Guard troops have been stationed in the nation’s capital, with the arrival this week of hundreds of troops from several Republican-led states.

Since the intervention began earlier this month, six states have sent troops to the DC.

Trump has boasted that the city is safer than ever.

“Tt’s a miracle what’s happened,” he said on Friday. “D.C. was a hell gap. But now it’s protected.”

Trump’s feedback come hours after former national security adviser John Bolton’s Maryland home and Washington workplace had been raided by FBI brokers on Friday. The searches had been half of an investigation into whether or not he disclosed labeled data in his 2020 tell-all guide about the president, GWN reported.

Bolton was not in custody Friday and was not charged with any crimes, The Associated Press reported.

Trump fired Bolton in 2019 after he served in the Republican’s first administration. Bolton grew to become an outspoken Trump critic and wrote the scathing guide, “The Room Where It Happened,” in 2020.
