The Forsytes: Stephen Moyer stars in Channel 5 trailer
Channel 5 has just dropped a first-look trailer at an upcoming period drama, The Forsytes.
Based on the novels of John Galsworthy, the six-part sequence comes after a 1967 adaptation on the BBC, The Forsyte Saga.
This model stars Home and Away actor Joshua Orpin, Coronation Street star Millie Gibson, One Day’s Eleanor Tomlinson, This Life actor Jack Davenport, and Downton Abbey actress Tuppence Middleton.
The sequence also stars Stephen Moyer, Francesca Annis, Jamie Flatters, Susan Hampshire and Danny Griffin.
The Forsytes, set in the late-Victorian period, chronicles the household battle between Soames Forsyte (Joshua) and his cousin Jolyon (Danny) as they battle over taking over the household firm.

With drama brewing in their own marriages as years-long secrets and techniques come to life, the trailer has teased what to count on.
It begins with the Forsytes matriarch warning: “A Forsyte is someone who knows the value of family and loyalty.”
Tensions rise between Soames and Jolyon as the previous asks: “Do I think I’d be a better chair, of course. Do I need to stoop to scheming to achieve it?”
A first-look at Millie’s character is also given, unrecognisable from her Doctor Who and Coronation Street roles, as Soames seeks an “ambitious wife” by his aspect.

Meanwhile, Tuppence performs a widowed mom who marries Jolyon to strengthen his standing, while her daughter struggles in the world she’s introduced in as she works to break down obstacles for ladies.
Their household is additional upended when Jolyon’s lover from a past life resurfaces, though his spouse warns him: “We all deserve our moments of madness, and then we grow up.”
The trailer then hints at the “scandal” to come as successions are challenged.
The synopsis beforehand teased: “Sticklers for tradition and status, the older Forsytes prize duty and reputation above all else, whilst the younger members rail against the rigidity of family expectations.

“The question of who will take over the family firm puts Soames Forsyte and his cousin Jolyon in conflict just as their lives are turned upside down by the arrival of two remarkable women.
