Man who broke into Quincy home, zip-tied residents is sentenced. What the judge… | Latest Lifestyle News

The man who forced his way into a Quincy home, bound its occupants using zip ties and fired two rounds from his gun during the ensuing struggle has been sentenced to prison.

Michael A. Campbell, 32, of Boston, pleaded guilty Monday, Oct. 6, to multiple assault and weapons charges in Dedham Superior Court, according to a written statement from the Norfolk County District Attorney’s office. Judge Peter B. Krupp sentenced Campbell to seven to 10 years followed by three years of probation.

On April 16, 2023, Campbell broke into a multifamily home on Granite Street and bound the hands of the four occupants, according to the DA. As Campbell led one of the victims through the house at gunpoint, two others broke free of their bonds and engaged the intruder in a struggle.

Campbell fired his gun twice during the struggle without hitting anyone. After the occupants of the home disarmed him, Campbell fled the house, but the victims continued to struggle with him outside.

Campbell was stabbed in the hand and left a trail of blood around the property, according to the police report. Boston police later arrested Campbell outside Boston Medical Center, according to the press release.

“This was a traumatic experience and thankfully the victims were not more seriously injured,” Norfolk County District Attorney Morrissey said in the written statement.

Morrissey praised Quincy police for their investigation leading to Campbell’s arrest by Boston police. He also praised Assistant District Attorney David Omiunu, who prosecuted the case, and victim-witness advocate Steven Nelson, who helped the victims through the court process.
