The Trump administration hung a picture of an autopen instead of a headshot of former President Biden in a corridor supposed to honor the nation’s earlier leaders.
The new pictures show the autopen photographs housed in gilt frames and displayed in order of administration. Hence, the show stands between two photographs of President Trump, signaling his first and second non-consecutive phrases.
The latest photos also characteristic the portraits of former presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush. Obama has been extremely crucial of the Trump administration in latest years.
Trump had beforehand hinted at the humiliating transfer in a September interview with The Daily Caller. During that dialog, the interviewer requested the president to describe the picture he would use to symbolize his presidency.
The latest photos observe a Republican report from the House Oversight Committee, launched last week, which questioned the validity of Biden’s government actions and presidency. The transfer is the latest effort by the Trump administration to undermine the legitimacy of the Biden presidency.
Trump and Republicans have fixated on Biden’s use of autopen since he returned to the White House in January, though he has used the device himself during his time in workplace. Nevertheless, the Republican lawmaker maintains he only used it for “very unimportant papers.”
The device is often used by staffers or assistants to place the president’s signature on an official doc without requiring a “wet signature,” one bodily made with ink and paper.
