Critics hail gripping war movie as among the | TV Shows

The movie is A Hidden Life, now streaming on Disney Plus, which depicts the life of Franz Jägerstätter (performed by August Diehl). Franz served as a conscientious objector during the war and was executed for his refusal to struggle for Nazi Germany, reviews the Express, reviews the Daily Record.

The movie holds an 82% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with audiences calling it “remarkable”. Robert S famous: “Beautifully shot and based on a true story, A Hidden Life is a remarkable, timely film about the courage it takes to stand against fascism and man’s inhumanity to humanity.”

Pat G noticed: “One of the most powerful movies I’ve ever seen. Highly recommend to everyone.”

Roger Ebert called the movie “one of the year’s best and most distinctive movies.” He lauded it as “a film that puts us deep inside of a situation and examines it in human terms, rather than treating it a set of easy prompts for feeling morally superior to some of the vilest people in history”.

The critic noticed: “What’s important here is not just what happened, but what the hero and his loved ones were feeling while it happened, and the questions they were thinking and arguing about as time marched on.”

The movie reveals Franz, along with his mom and sister-in-law Resie, dedicating himself to farming the land with his spouse while raising their youngsters. When battle erupts, he and other bodily succesful village males get their draft notices.

The first requirement is to swear allegiance through an oath to Adolf Hitler and the Third Reich, but Franz declines despite growing stress from the mayor and local townspeople.

Even when given a number of alternatives to signal the oath and provided non-combat roles, he stayed firm in his stance.
