Presenter Roman Kemp discovered himself exclaiming “wow” after creating history on Celebrity Race Across The World.

The BBC programme returned to our screens on Thursday night (December 4) for its second-to-last episode. During the programme, the superstar contestants have been challenged to attain Medellín, Colombia’s second-largest metropolis.

In an attempt to arrive at the checkpoint first, Roman and sister Harleymoon travelled to the Guna Yala area and visited an extraordinarily remoted island. Arriving by boat, Harleymoon confessed: “I’ve literally never ever in my life been somewhere this remote.”

The well-known siblings ended up lodging with a household who had inhabited the island for generations. And it wasn’t long before Roman immersed himself in Guna tradition.

The next day Roman assisted Senor Blas in gathering food provisions from his farm on the mainland, where banana plantations stretch along the shoreline. However, Roman ended up creating history, leaving him astounded, stories the Mirror.

“No tourists have entered this part of the jungle before. You are the first,” Senor Blas declared as he ventured into the jungle with Roman. A surprised Roman responded: “We’re the first? ! Wow.”

As Roman acquired concerned in harvesting food from the jungle, he remarked: “This feels like a proper step into the jungle. This is hard work. These plantains are not light either.”

He then confessed: “It’s a really nice feeling. You’re not thinking about anything, and you’ve just got a job to do.”

Later, Roman made a heart-wrenching admission as he regarded back on a bleak time in his life. The radio host revealed that the island’s surroundings reminded him that “there’s stuff worth living for”.

Speaking straight to the digicam, he confessed: “There’s been moments in my life where I didn’t even want to be here anymore and things like this make me think that if I’d made different decisions then I would never have seen this or I never would have experienced this.”

He went on to say: “It was a bad time in my life. I remember one moment in particular where it was really bad. I just remember my mum passing the phone to Harley and Harley trying to just talk to me to try and distract me and keep me on the phone so that my mum could get in the car and drive to me.”

Reflecting additional, he added: “I don’t think I have ever spoken to Harley about that call. I don’t think we’ve ever been ready to have that conversation. That’s hard to talk about man.”
