Archdiocese of Boston, ICE Blast Catholic Churchs | Political News

We’ve acquired an update on a story we introduced you on Thursday about a Catholic parish in the Boston suburbs that thought it could be a good concept to take away Jesus (a.okay.a., the explanation for the season), Mary, and Joseph from its Christmas Nativity scene and substitute them with a signal that read, “ICE was here.” All in the identify of “immigrant justice,” of course.

As we beforehand reported, St. Susanna Catholic Church in Dedham, Massachusetts, desecrated their creche with the anti-ICE messaging that also read, “The Holy Family is safe in the Sanctuary of our Church. If you see ICE, please call LUCE.” They included a phone number to the local immigrant justice center, presumably so illegals could get help evading federal law enforcement.

As a reminder, this is what the people of St. Susanna thought was a seasonally-appropriate Christmas message:

St. Susanna’s pastor, Fr. Stephen Josoma, said the design was the handiwork of the parish’s Peace and Justice ministry and was the group’s attempt to use the Nativity as a method to “maintain the mirror up to what’s taking place, and this yr, it appeared to be, my God, it appeared to be proper there in entrance of us.” It was Fr. Josoma’s belief that ICE was using the holiday season to target churches like his who are working to resettle “immigrants.”

“They’ve done everything that they’re supposed to do, but their status could be in jeopardy, and some of our people would be in danger being killed if they did go back,” Josoma said. “It’s a cruel policy, and we can do a lot better as a country dealing with the many issues that face us.”

It might come as a shock to Fr. Josoma and his congregation, but the Catholic Archdiocese of Boston is not amused by the politicization of the Lord’s start, saying “divise political messaging” has no business being included in the Nativity show. Also, this: “The display should be removed, and the manger restored to its proper sacred purpose.”

“The people of God have the right to expect that, when they come to church, they will encounter genuine opportunities for prayer and Catholic worship—not divisive political messaging. The Church’s norms prohibit the use of sacred objects for any purpose other than the devotion of God’s people. This includes images of the Christ Child in the manger, which are to be used solely to foster faith and devotion. Regarding the recent incident, St. Susanna Parish neither requested nor received permission from the Archdiocese to depart from this canonical norm or to place a politically divisive display outside the church. The display should be removed, and the manger restored to its proper sacred purpose.”

ICE was fast to thank the archdiocese for intervening on a matter that may lead to violence against immigration officers, with ICE Director Todd Lyons applauding Catholic Church officers for “taking a stand against such a dangerous and extremist anti-law enforcement narrative.”

During earlier Christmases, Fr. Josoman and his parish blighted their Nativity scene with gun control and climate change messages.

Editor’s Note: Democrat politicians and their radical supporters will do all the pieces they will to intrude with and threaten ICE brokers implementing our immigration legal guidelines.
