Fox News viewers vented their frustrations about President Donald Trump after he made a bold declare about the U.S. financial system.

The conservative news community‘s Sean Hannity sat down for an interview with the 79-year-old Commander-in-Chief on Thursday, January 9, to focus on varied topics about his administration, including the financial system.

“I want to ask you-,” the 64-year-old Fox News host started to say before the president interupted with, “The financial system is unbelievable, by the best way.” Hannity replied, “We’re going to get to that,” prompting Trump to say, “I know, but it’s unbelievable.”

On X, previously Twitter, one consumer, Acyn, shared a clip of the second, writing, “Trump: The economy is unbelievable.”

In the feedback part, Trump was slammed for his feedback, with one individual writing, “Yeah. Unbelievably bad,” as another raged, “Yep. If you’re a tech/AI bro, top 1%, it’s the thing of dreams. For us plebs it’s a nightmare.”

A 3rd said, “The amount I spend on groceries says different,” as a fourth viewer added, “If Trump’s lips are moving, he’s lying.”

Yet another bashed, “For him and the 1%, but not for most. And he wonders why the public doesn’t get it.”

Trump did have some supporters, though, even if some have been reluctant to admit it. One individual wrote, “He’s not wrong, but who wants to tell him.”

Another appeared hesitant to say, “I know I can’t believe it,” as a third penned, “For once, an accidental truth.”

Later on in his interview with Hannity, Trump said, “We have gasoline now down to in many cases $1.99 a gallon. We’ve done a great job on the word affordability, prices are way down.

“They are going to go decrease. Everything follows oil. It impacts the truck that delivers donuts, it impacts the range that makes the donuts, it impacts every little thing.”

The president said his administration was doing a “great job on the phrase ‘affordability,'” even though he claimed weeks ago that the word was a “hoax” created by the Democratic Party.

“We have gasoline now down to, in many instances, $1.99 a gallon. With Biden, it was $4.50, $5. We have it approach, approach…We have…,” he continued, repeatedly trailing off. “We’ve introduced it approach down.”

The president continued, “We’ve completed a great job on the phrase ‘affordability,’ costs are approach down. They need to go decrease. Everything follows oil. Oil is so big.”

However, fuel costs are a lot larger than the determine the president dropped during his interview, according to The Independent.

The most current report from the US Energy Information Administration, indicates that the cost of a gallon of oil at the start of 2026 was $2.80, almost a dollar more expensive than the number given by Trump.

Meanwhile, the Consumer Price Index reports that the average cost for all items has actually increased during Trump’s presidency. He is suggesting that prices are “approach down.”

The CPI says the average price of items rose by 2.7 p.c from November 2024 to November 2025.

They also discovered that the average price of food had risen by 2.6 p.c, although this increase was dwarfed by the skyrocketing price of power, which rose by 4.2 p.c.

Oil costs have dropped not too long ago. According to the president, Venezuela will soon be giving up to 50 million barrels of crude to the United States.
