Netflix subscribers discovered themselves gripping their armrests Saturday night while watching Skyscraper Live.
As 40-year-old Alex Honnold ready to free climb Taipei 101 in Taiwan, anxious viewers flocked to X, expressing alarm over his well-being.
“of course I’m gonna watch skyscraper live but for the life of me I cannot fathom why this is a thing like what precautions do they have in place so he doesn’t plummet to his death? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?” one viewer questioned.
Another commented, “This @netflix skyscraper live event is weirdly dystopian. We are watching someone live for ratings do something that could kill him with one mistake. How is no one talking about this.”
A 3rd viewer remarked, “Watching Skyscraper Live on Netflix. It’s a pretty insane concept. What happens if you fall without a safety line? Seriously.”

A fourth wrote, “Watching Alex Honnold climb up the side of a skyscraper live and really hoping this man does not fall,” while a fifth chimed in, “This man climbing the skyscraper, without any harness/ropes, live on Netflix is just… What a strange time in entertainment smh.”
Another Netflix subscriber shared, “Alex is free soloing the skyscraper live on Netflix right now and just watching it is making me sweat. Dude is certifiably insane lol and a complete bad a**.”
Someone else questioned, “Netflix live guy climbing skyscraper no ropes or safety… how did this get approved?” while another commented, “The concept of live streaming some guy free climbing some massive skyscraper… Netflix is so sick.”
One more viewer remarked, “This Skyscraper live is madness but why can’t I stop watching? I don’t understand why there’s no net tho, that part doesn’t make sense to me.”
However, Netflix viewers could not notice that in case one thing catastrophic happens, such as Alex falling to his death, the streamer carried out a 10 second delay with the potential to cut the published if needed.

Scaling the 101 ground building was a longtime aspiration of Alex’s, who said, “I’ve hoped to have the opportunity to climb it since [over a decade ago].”
Speaking to the New York Times, Alex was requested if this stunt is his greatest payday, to which he responded, “Maybe. It’s less than my agent aspired to.
“I imply, I might do it for free. If there was no TV program and the building gave me permission to go do the factor, I might do the factor because I do know I can, and it would be wonderful. I imply, just sitting by your self on the very top of the spire is insane.”
Alex continued: “And so, you recognize, if there wasn’t the entire spectacle around it, and I just had the chance to go do it by myself, I’d be wonderful with that. I might do that, but in this case, there’s a spectacle. I’m not getting paid to climb the building. I’m getting paid for the spectacle. I’m climbing the building for free.”
