(Updated) MN Rep. Ilhan Omar Sprayed With Unknown | Political News
Rather startling news out of Minneapolis on Tuesday night: Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN-05) was talking at a city corridor event there when a man approached her and appeared to spray an unknown substance at her while pointing and yelling at her.
Here are two separate angles of the incident:

At the time of the assault, Omar was saying, “Secretary Kristi Noem must resign or face impeachment.”
As the group applauds, the person approaches her from the entrance. He’s holding one thing in his proper hand as he sprays an unknown substance at her, which seems to catch her on the arm or chest. He’s yelling, and his phrases are largely unintelligible, but it appears like he is saying, “You must resign or….” He continues yelling and pointing at her as he begins to back away toward the aspect, and then is grabbed by a man (presumably Omar’s security) and tackled to the ground.
Omar herself advances toward the person, and may be heard calling him a “f—ing a–hole,” while others in the group shout, “Whoa, whoa, whoa!”
A girl in the group may be heard asking, “What’d he spray you with?” Omar responds, “I don’t know.”
Another man who seems to be security strikes toward Omar and is checking her out as she asks for a serviette.
Omar insisted on persevering with the event, shouting, “We will continue — these f—ing a—holes are not going to get away with this.”

No phrase yet on the person’s identification or what it was he sprayed Omar with.
However, in the C-SPAN clip below, one of the other ladies current states, “Whatever it is smells so bad. She needs to go get checked.” When Omar protests, “That’s what they want,” the same girl says, “It’s not about him, Ilhan. It’s about your safety.”

After some continued dialogue, Omar returned to the microphone and said:
“Here is the reality that people like this ugly man don’t understand. We are Minnesota strong, and we will stay resilient in the face of whatever they might throw at us. Everybody, settle down. I’m going to finish my remarks. It is important for me to continue to lead my Democratic colleagues in demanding her resignation.”
As she was making those last remarks, the person was being hustled out of the room.

It seems the person was holding a syringe with white or yellow liquid inside that “smelled strongly of vinegar.”

The man was booked into Hennepin County Jail for third-degree assault. Omar was not injured, according to police.
