Patrick Reed is keen to return to the PGA Tour after parting methods with LIV Golf.

The 35-year-old former Masters champion announced his departure from LIV on Wednesday, changing into the second major winner to search a return to the PGA Tour following Brooks Koepka earlier this month. Reed’s contract with the Saudi-backed circuit ended after last season.

After clinching the Dubai Desert Classic over the weekend, Reed disclosed that his LIV deal had expired and discussions have been underway concerning his future steps. The American has now confirmed his LIV tenure is over; he will probably be eligible to play on the PGA Tour again beginning in August.

Reed said: “After careful thought and consideration, my family and I have decided that I will no longer compete on the LIV Golf Tour.

“I’m excited to announce that I’m returning to the PGA Tour as a past champion member for the 2027 season and am eligible to start competing in PGA Tour occasions later this 12 months.”

Reed was one of the most prominent names to join LIV at its 2022 launch. He had a challenging stint at LIV, winning only a single event in Dallas last year.

The former Ryder Cup star also saw a significant drop in the Official World Golf Ranking to 164 in November 2024, leading him to miss the U.S. Open and The Open Championship last year.

However, Reed has been gradually climbing back to the top. He secured third place at last year’s Masters, a tournament he won in 2018, and recently celebrated his first non-LIV victory in five years by winning the DP World Tour’s Dubai Desert Classic.

Reed has now ascended to No. 28 in the world rankings and aims to continue his upward trajectory on the PGA Tour. He’ll have to wait until August 25 to participate in another non-major PGA Tour event, but he can still compete on the DP World Tour in the interim.

Reed added: “I’ll continue to compete and play as an Honorary Lifetime Member on the DP World Tour, which is one thing that I’m really honored and excited to do. I’m a traditionalist at coronary heart, and I used to be born to play on the PGA Tour, which is where my story started with my spouse, Justine. I’m very lucky for the alternatives that have come my manner and grateful for the life now we have created.

“I am moving forward in my career, and I look forward to competing on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour. I can’t wait to get back out there and revisit some of the best places on earth. I want to thank everyone involved for helping me make this decision.

“Over the last 4 years, I’ve realized a lot about myself, about who I’m and who I’m not, and for that I’m perpetually grateful. To Dustin Johnson, The Aces, and LIV Golf, I need to thanks for the recollections we shared and created together.
