U.S Intelligence are internally discussing evidence that suggests Russia could also be behind the “Havana Syndrome” illness, which has left tons of of U.S officers sick.
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has pushed to make the findings on the unknown syndrome public.
Sources told the New York Post that U.S Intelligence concluded the Havana Syndrome is linked to Moscow and is reponsobile for the assault since 2016. Those sources didn’t disclose their identification to the public.
U.S officers are also believed to have obtained at least one of the devices used in the incidents in late 2024, according to CBS News’ “60 Minutes” from Sunday.

It’s called the “Havana Syndrome” because the first reported incidents of the condition 9 years in the past have been in Havana when U.S. diplomats started reporting vertigo, listening to loss, migraines, blindness, cognitive impairment and excruciating complications. Since then, many more circumstances have been reported, prompting deeper investigations.
Two sources described the gadget isn’t completely Russian but is made utilizing Russian components and may very well be positioned inside a backpack, the Express US reported.
The gadget, which the Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Securiyu Invesigations quiewtly purchased during the Biden administration, was bought with Pentagon funding that exceeded eight figures, two nameless sources told CBS News.
Some officers fear to publically blame Russia for the Havana Syndrome, as it might complicate negotiations between Russia nd Ukriane and deepen financial ties with Russia sources told the Post. This has not been formally verified and other sources say Gabbard has not been ready to release this data because the Central Intelligence Agency has prevented it.
The CIA told the Post that “Director Ratcliffe supports DNI Gabbard’s efforts to review the AHI issue and looks forward to her report on this important matter.”
“The health and security of CIA personnel is of the utmost importance to the Director,” the company added.
The U.S Intelligence discovered twice that it was “very unlikely” that foriegn energy was accountable for the Havana Syndrome. The intelligence’s assesment by the Biden administration was labled the “Anomalous Health Incidents,” or AHIs. The same conclusion occurred in January 2025.
But according to CBS News, two companies have been skeptial and felt there was a “roughly even chance” that foriegn adversaries did develop the gadget that has harmed U.S diplomats and officers.
The Office of Director of National Intelligence has been conducting review of the earlier investigations. The review is nearing completion according tothe sources who spoke to the same outlet, but it has not been briefed to lawmakers or prepared for the public release yet.
Sources told the Post that Gabbard has a report on the alleged “coverup” that falsy hid the victims’ symptoms and lowered the seriousness of the Havana Syndrome. Sources added Gabbard has the listing of officers presumably concerned in the coverup.
“I’ve heard Tulsi’s report is done,” the source said. “Hopefully Tulsi’s team has identified the wrongdoers and will hold them accountable.”
“Stage one was kind of this, like, ‘Hey, there was a cover-up,’” the particular person said. “Phase two was going to be the 14-day amnesty period for people to come forward and save themselves.”
It has not been launched yet. Sources told the outlet those holding high senior positons at the CIA are half of the coverup.
“They have the people responsible, and they’re not doing anything,” the source said. “They have the list … They have the evidence. They just won’t release it.”
Meanwhile Gabbard’s workplace said transparency and accountability is a top precedence from the DNI.
“DNI Gabbard stays dedicated to sharing findings from ODNI’s review with the American people,” the spokesperson said.
