When first responders arrived at the crash website, seemingly after the beforehand talked about {photograph} was captured, Budensiek disclosed that DUI investigators immediately observed Woods appeared impaired and torpid.

“Our DUI investigators came to the scene here, and Mr. Woods did exemplify signs of impairment,” Budensiek said during an impromptu press convention Friday afternoon.

“They did several tests on him. Of course, he did explain the injuries and the surgeries that he had. We did take that into account. But they did do some in-depth roadside tests.

“And when it was decided, he was positioned under arrest and taken to the Martin County Jail.”

According to Budensiek, authorities believed Woods’ impaired condition was linked to medication rather than alcohol. “At the Martin County Jail, and even on scene, we actually weren’t suspicious of alcohol being concerned in this case,” he explained.

“And that proved to be true at the jail. So Mr. Woods did a breathalyzer check, blew triple zeros. But when it got here time for us to ask for a urinalysis check, he refused. And so he is been charged with DUI, with property injury, and refusal to submit to a lawful check.”

While Budensiek couldn’t specify exactly how fast Woods was traveling when the crash happened, he suggested it was significantly over the 30 mph speed limit.

“He did not roll utterly over. The truck rolled to the driving force’s door and then just slid northbound up the street,” Budensiek noted.

“It’s a 30-mile-an-hour velocity restrict. And when I show you the images, they variety of converse for themselves. You can see where he clipped the back of the trailer. You can see where he rolled.

“And then as he decelerates, sliding down on the driver’s door of the vehicle, you can see that he slid for a pretty decent space before he came to a stop.”
