Fox News fans defend NATO from Trumps scathing | TV Shows

President Donald Trump lashed out on-air at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), a stance that rankled his conservative base.

On April 12, Fox News shared a partial quote on social media from President Trump, 79, taken from a telephone interview with host Maria Bartiromo on their show, Sunday Morning Futures. The caption read, “President Trump expresses his frustration with NATO over the ongoing Iran conflict, insisting that NATO allies have not stepped up sufficiently to support the United States in its efforts.”

Trump acknowledged, “They weren’t there for us,” referring to the intergovernmental army alliance. This comes as Donald Trump taunted Iran with JD Vance in the air en route to the peace talks.

Conservative voices then took to their socials and pushed back against Trump’s remarks, contending that the president was disparaging 32 member nations, including Canada, Sweden, and 30 European international locations. Mark Rutte has served as NATO Secretary General since October 2024.

On April 12, Trump told Bartiromo, “We have to reexamine NATO because they weren’t there for us. And let me tell you something. For 25 years, they weren’t there for us. And they won’t be there for us. They’re weren’t there for us. This is another military operation. This is not a hard thing for us.
