President Donald Trump shared an awkward second with a DoorDash driver he invited to the White House to push his “no tax on tips” thought when he handed her a tip proper in entrance of the cameras.
Doordash driver, Sharon Simmons, “Are the White House good tippers, are you aware?”
She kept it coy, shrugging, as she started to say, “Well you know…” when she was interrupted by the President, who pulled a bill out of his pocket and handed it to her. She laughed, took the bill, and said, “Yes, very.”
In another awkward moment, Trump asked Simmons, the Dohesitatedver, “Do you assume males ought to play in girls’s sports activities?” She hesitated before answering, “I actually do not have an opinion on that. I’m right here about no tax on suggestions.”
In the video footage, Trump stands there holding two bags of McDonald’s, the President’s favorite lunch, apparently brought by Simmons, wearing a “DoorDash grandma” t-shirt.
He also asked her if she voted for him, to which Simmons replied, “perhaps.” The comment did make President Trump laugh, and he shook her hand before taking questions on Iran and his recently deleted Truth Social post depicting him as “a Red Cross doctor,” which looked suspiciously like Jesus.
Simmons is from Arkansas, and is reportedly a Trump supporter.
After the event, Simmons spoke to Fox News, telling the outlet that the “No tax on suggestions” laws helped her pay for her husband’s cancer treatment, that she initially could not afford.
Trump also used the same press conference to refuse to apologize for sharply criticizing Pope Leo, saying that the pontiff “went public” in his criticisms of the war in Iran, and “I’m just responding.”
In comments to reporters outside the Oval Office, Trump added, “There’s nothing to apologize for” and said of Leo, “He’s wrong.”
Adding, “No, because Pope Leo said issues that are improper. I believe he is very weak on crime.”
