One of the ladies who accused Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell of inappropriate misconduct alleged he drugged, raped and choked her so laborious she thought she had died in a California encounter.
Lonna Drewes recalled the first time she met Swalwell back in 2018 while dwelling and working as a model in Beverly Hills.
She said she also owned and operated a fashion software program company and that she had contact with him thrice after assembly him socially.
“He offered me connections to further my software company, and I also had an interest in local politics,” Drewes told a press convention in Beverly Hills on Tuesday. “He invited me to two public events.”
She said she knew he was married at the time and that his spouse was also pregnant. “He was my friend,” she said.
The third time they met, Drewes claimed he drugged her drink. She said she only had one glass of wine and that shortly after, she accompanied him to his resort room so he might grab some paperwork before they attended a political event together.
“When I arrived at his hotel room, I was already incapacitated, and I couldn’t move my arms or my body,” she alleged, choking up. “He raped me, and he choked me, and while he was choking me, I lost consciousness, and I thought I died.”
“I did not consent to any inappropriate activity,” she added. “Although I did not undergo a rape kit at the time, I disclosed the assault to the people closest to me. I also recorded these events in my handwritten calendar. The assault and its impact were later documented during my therapy sessions at a inappropriate assault center.”
Drewes’ lawyer, Lisa Bloom, said she and Drewes can be submitting a police report with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department straight after the press convention.
Swalwell’s workplace was contacted for remark following Drewes’ press convention.
Swalwell beforehand vehemently denied the allegations against him. He has resigned from Congress and dropped out of California‘s gubernatorial race.
“Hear it directly from me. These allegations are flat false. And I will fight them,” he wrote in a post on X alongside a video message.
He suspended his gubernatorial marketing campaign on Sunday, saying in a social media post, “I will fight the serious, false allegations that have been made — but that’s my fight, not a campaign’s.”
Swalwell said Monday he would depart Congress on his own phrases as bipartisan lawmakers pushed for a vote to expel him.
