US president Donald Trump appeared to show his “decline” live on TV as he “lost his train of thought” while rambling about nook shops. During an event selling the Republican Party’s tax manifesto, he branded inflation coming from the conflict in Iran “fake” and alleged that “poor people” don’t suppose about tax deductions.

In a rambling speech, Trump started: “So, when rich people do something, they always look for deductions. It’s always deductions. They have deductions on everything. And middle class and middle income people, poor people, they don’t think in terms of deductions.”

He later said: “The Great Big Beautiful Bill also slashed taxes on millions of American small businesses, including restaurants, dry cleaners, corner stores.

“What is a corner store? I’ve never heard that term. I know what a quarter store is, but I’ve never heard it described a corner store. Who the hell wrote that?”

He insisted the US economic system is doing better than it was in his first time period as president “despite our little diversion to the lovely country of Iran”.

The speech was aired live on MS NOW, with one viewer tweeting in response: “Donald Trump completely loses his train of thought on live TV.

“While reading a teleprompter about tax cuts for small businesses, he gets totally confused by the term corner store and angrily asks who wrote his speech. The US president is in severe cognitive decline.”

While a third echoed: “Wait until he hears about bodegas!”
