Sean Hannity made a placing announcement this week concerning his religion.

During the April 16 broadcast of his Fox News program, the host addressed the growing rift between President Donald Trump, 79, and Pope Leo XIV, 70. The chief of the Catholic Church has publicly criticized Trump and condemned his persevering with navy battle with Iran.

While the pontiff has voiced opposition to Trump’s navy actions, he has not endorsed Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons as the ceasefire deadline looms, opposite to the president’s claims. This follows the pope’s rebuke of leaders “who are spending billions on killing” during his dispute with President Trump.

The 64-year-old tv persona revealed he has chosen his allegiance between the pontiff and the president, declaring, “As of today, I no longer consider myself a Catholic. I am a Christian. Where are the pointed words for Iran? This evil regime. The number one state sponsor of terror. The people that murdered 40,000-45,000 innocent protestors. Not a peep from Pope Leo.”

Prior to the show, President Trump addressed reporters outdoors the White House, stating, “I have to do what’s right.”

Trump continued, “I’m not fighting with him. The pope made a statement, he says Iran can have a nuclear weapon, I say Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.”

“I can disagree with the pope. I have a right to disagree with the pope,” he added. On that same day, Pope Leo delivered a forceful deal with, proclaiming, “The masters of war pretend not to know that it takes only a moment to destroy, yet often a lifetime is not enough to rebuild. They turn a blind eye to the fact that billions of dollars are spent on killing and devastation, yet the resources needed for healing, education and restoration are nowhere to be found.”

During his show, Hannity also remarked, “I do want to shift gears for a moment with a message to the Vatican. Specifically to Pope Leo, who has openly condemned America’s war in Iran, while seemingly enjoying a public fight with President Trump.

“Let me give some context,” he said. “I went to Catholic faculty for 12 years. I even attended a seminary in high faculty, and studied theology, Latin, and went to mass daily.”

Hannity concluded, “While I’m a Christian, I left the Catholic church in large half because of institutionalized corruption. It was at the parish degree, to the bishop degree, all the best way to Rome. Others at the Vatican have completely misplaced sight of the true that means of the bible and its teachings.”

Prior to the broadcast, Trump posted on Truth Social on April 13, “I do not need a Pope who thinks it is horrible that America attacked Venezuela, a Country that was sending huge quantities of substances into the United States and, even worse, emptying their prisons, including murderers, drug sellers, and killers, into our Country.”
