“Striking a commercial vessel and taking its crew hostage is an even greater violation,” Abbas Araghchi said in a post. “Iran knows how to neutralize restrictions, how to defend its interests, and how to resist bullying.”

It was reported that after the president’s announcement, the Iranian delegation to the U.N. issued a letter asking the group and the Security Council to issue a “firm and unequivocal” condemnation of the U.S. determination to seize an Iranian cargo ship. “This constitutes a grave breach of international law, a clear violation of the ceasefire, and an act of aggression marked by the hallmarks of piracy,” the mission posted on X.

“Such reckless conduct directly endangers international navigation and undermines maritime safety and security,” they added. According to U.S. officials, the ship attempted to evade U.S. forces near the Strait of Hormuz.

Speaking to GWN, the White House said that there was no formal word about the timing of the negotiations, but added, “We expect the delegation to be on the road soon but unclear when.” Hours before the extension, the president gave a chilling warning during an interview with CNBC’s Squawk Box.

Trump told host Joe Kernen that he expected to be bombing Iran after the ceasefire fell through. “You’re saying that you need at least the prospect for a signed deal today and tomorrow or else you’ll resume bombing Iran?” Kernen said.

The president responded that he expects “to be bombing” and “The army is raring to go.” Kernen also questioned whether Trump would allow the ceasefire to continue past its Wednesday deadline if a second round of expected peace talks between the U.S. and Iranian delegations in Pakistan progresses.

President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that the second round of peace talks between the U.S. and Iran could begin as soon as Friday.

Sources within the Pakistani capital of Islamabad have touted positive mediation efforts with Tehran and even renewed the possibility of more talks within the next “36 to 72 hours.” When asked by The Post whether or not this was true, the president sent a text message back saying, “It’s possible! President DJT.”

The updated peace plan comes almost a day after the president extended the ceasefire deadline indefinitely, until Iran presents the U.S. with a single, unified plan. According to the president, he was asked to hold off on the proposed attacks from the country’s “fractured authorities.”

“STATEMENT OF PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP: Based on the fact that the Government of Iran is severely fractured, not unexpectedly so and, upon the request of Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, of Pakistan, we’ve got been requested to maintain our Attack on the Country of Iran until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “I’ve therefore directed our Military to continue the Blockade and, in all other respects, stay prepared and ready, and will therefore prolong the Ceasefire until such time as their proposal is submitted, and discussions are concluded, a technique or the other. President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

Trump’s transfer to prolong the ceasefire comes moments after it was announced that Vice President JD Vance canceled his journey to Islamabad for the second round of talks. In the meantime, Iran’s top diplomat posted on X, declaring that American forces boarding an Iranian oil tanker earlier Tuesday constituted an act of struggle.
