Trump brands WHCD shooter sick as Kamala Harris | Political News

U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that the gunman who opened fire close to the annual White House Correspondents Association dinner Saturday is a “sick” man from California.

Chaos erupted at the venue after a gunman opened fire, prompting security personnel to immediately escort your entire head desk, including Trump, Melania and closely pregnant Karoline Leavitt, away from the main stage. The remaining attendees have been positioned under lockdown, with visitors taking cowl beneath their tables for safety.

“It’s always shocking when something like this happens. Happened to me a little bit,” Trump said, seemingly referring to earlier foiled assassination makes an attempt against him. “It was very quick. There wasn’t a lot of time to be thinking … I don’t like to let these sick people, these thugs, these horrible, horrible people change the fabric of our lives, change the course of what we do.”

Law enforcement officers have recognized the gunman as Cole Tomas Allen, 31, of Torrance, California.

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that the person was taken into custody, and that law enforcement is conducting a background examine into him, as particulars start to emerge about his background.

About an hour after the pictures have been fired, the president issued his first remarks about the incident online.

“Quite an evening in D.C. Secret Service and Law Enforcement did a fantastic job. They acted quickly and bravely,” Trump wrote Saturday night on Truth Social after the taking pictures unfolded.

“The shooter has been apprehended, and I have recommended that we ‘LET THE SHOW GO ON’ but, will entirely be guided by Law Enforcement. They will make a decision shortly. Regardless of that decision, the evening will be much different than planned, and we’ll just, plain, have to do it again. President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

Daily Express U.S. reporter Jack Hobbs reported live from the event, saying that there was an speedy response of excessive panic in the room, as properly as some confusion.
