Louise Lucas Issues Statement After FBI Search,

Though the news broke on Wednesday morning of the FBI conducting a search of the Portsmouth workplace of Virginia Senate President Pro Tempore Louise Lucas (D), the social media accounts for the usually prolific tweeter and 82-year-old social media troller/crudity machine remained curiously silent.

Even throughout the day, as we discovered more about what was going on, including the fact that “other locations” had been also being searched, including a hashish store she co-owns, there was no remark from the same lady who posted in March 2023, the day of Donald Trump’s Manhattan grand jury indictment, that “Donald Trump just learned no one is above the law!”

It wasn’t until Wednesday night that Lucas, the ringleader of the Virginia gerrymandering scheme, determined to post a formal assertion, and what was particularly noteworthy about it was what she omitted of it.

Not surprisingly, she performed the sufferer, suggesting – as some of her Democrat colleagues already have – that this was politically motivated:

Today’s actions by Federal brokers are about far more than one state senator; they’re about energy and who is allowed to use it on behalf of the people. What we noticed matches a clear sample from this administration: when challenged, they fight to intimidate and silence the voices who stand up to them.

Just two weeks in the past, Virginians despatched a highly effective message when they voted to stop Trump’s scheme to manipulate the 2026 midterm elections. Voters across this Commonwealth made clear that energy belongs with the people, not with politicians who attempt to take energy away from them. I used to be proud to help lead that effort and I’ve never been afraid to stand up to Donald Trump or anybody else that has tried to undermine our democracy.

I’m deeply grateful for the love and help of my household and mates and for the many colleagues and constituents who have reached out in latest hours. I’ll have more to say in the times forward, but know this:

I’m not backing down, and I’ll keep combating for the people of Portsmouth and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

I stay amused when I hear people like Lucas proclaim that their actions are on behalf of the people, despite the fact that their actions in this case might successfully disenfranchise voters in 4 of the state’s congressional districts if the map/referendum holds. But I digress.

Notably absent from the assertion was the “yas, kweeen” angle we usually see on show.

But that wasn’t all. Also omitted was any assertion associated to the federal probe. There was no “I have done nothing wrong,” nor any other proclamations of innocence which, in equity, might have been omitted under the advisement of her attorney.

Notably lacking from this assertion: any refutations of the allegations. No declarations of innocence.

Further, there was no point out of the fact that the investigation began under the Biden administration, not the Trump administration:

Of course that wasn’t included, because it will be so a lot more durable to persuade people she was a “victim” if she did.

Definitely trying ahead to discovering out specifics about the FBI’s investigation, because my thought bubble on this is that the fact it began under Biden’s reign of error is critical, contemplating that administration’s major targets usually had been political opponents, not Democrats. 

If they had been truly focusing on a distinguished and highly effective Democrat like Lucas, who has been in workplace since 1992, that makes me really feel like there could also be some fire to this smoke.
