Matt Damon has been married for over 20 years.
The 55-year-old actor has been married to Luciana Barroso Damon, 49, since December 2005. Matt and Luciana married more than two years after they met in April 2003. The couple shares 4 daughters together: Alexia, Isabella, and Gia. Luciana is supportive of Matt’s profession and also attends his film premieres, along with their daughters. Matt might be internet hosting Saturday Night Live for the third time on Saturday, May 9. He made his debut internet hosting the NBC sketch comedy in 2002 and then last hosted in 2018.
His current internet hosting duties align with the promotion of his new project, The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan. In the movie adaptation of Homer’s historic Greek epic, Matt portrays Odysseus as he embarks on a perilous journey home to Ithaca after the Trojan War. Matt’s last project was Netflix’s The Rip with his best pal and frequent collaborator, Ben Affleck.

Who is Luciana Barroso Damon?
While not a lot is thought about Luciana’s life prior to assembly, she was born in Argentina and speaks fluent Spanish. She was also a single mom raising her daughter, Alexia, who Matt legally adopted following their marriage. Luciana shares Alexia with ex-husband Arbello Barroso. Alexia was 4 years previous when Luciana and Damon met.
In a uncommon interview with Vogue Australia in May 2018, Luciana shared that Matt favored that she was a mom when they met. Luciana was working as a bartender in South Beach (Miami, Florida) when Matt and his movie crew got here to the bar.
She spoke about how that they had an immediate connection on their first encounter and had been “very comfortable” with each other. Matt had invited her to exit with his pals at the end of the evening.
“But I was like: ‘I can’t, I have a four-year-old daughter, I’m not going anywhere’… and that was one of the things he loved, that I had a daughter. He said: ‘I love that you’re a mum and that’s your priority’. Some guys might have been different; they might think it’s complicated, but for him, it wasn’t,” Luciana told the outlet.
Luciana has reportedly labored in varied careers, including as an inside designer and a flight attendant, per Brides. She’s also a movie producer and was a producer on The Instigators (starring Matt and Casey Affleck), The Rip, and Animals, Ben Affleck’s upcoming Netflix directorial debut.

How did Matt and Luciana Damon meet?
The couple first met in a bar, where Luciana was a bartender, and Matt and his movie crew went on a Saturday evening in South Beach. Matt was filming the comedy, Stuck on You, in Miami in 2003. Luciana shared insight into their first assembly with Vogue Australia.
“Matt’s story is that he saw me across the room and there was a light on me. And I’m like: ‘yeah it was a nightclub – there were lights everywhere!'” Luciana said.
She recounted that Matt got here around the bar to conceal from aggressive followers after he was acknowledged. Luciana famous that Matt needed “to just hang out back there and have a drink. He says ‘oh I saw you and I really wanted to talk to you.'”
While back there, Luciana gave him duties to do. She told the screenwriter, “‘You know, if you’re going to be back here, you can’t just be standing there!’ “
“He had trained as a bartender for a film years before, so he started making drinks. And he made me a ton of money in tips that night, because of course everyone wanted to go and see him,” Luciana continued. “So it turned into a really fun night and then 15 years later here we are!”

How do Matt and Luciana make their marriage work?
Matt and Luciana have been married since they tied the knot in December 2005. They welcomed three youngsters together (Isabella, Gia, and Stella) and have 4 daughters in whole, including Alexia. The pair also has matching tattoos, which is a design created by the late Heath Ledger.
Both Matt and Luciana have reportedly said the key to their long-lasting marriage is spending time together. Matt spoke with YourTango in 2014, saying that he and Luciana make sure not to spend more than two weeks aside, no matter if he’s working on a movie.
“We have a two-week rule. I’m not away for more than two weeks,” Matt told the outlet. “I think you need to be with the person you love as much as possible. My wife is my soul mate. I don’t like being apart from her.”
He also shared with the outlet that he and Luciana broke it once so he may play Bill Baker, an Oklahoma oil rig employee in the 2021 movie Stillwater. Matt said the expertise was “tough” and “helped with the performance” as he was in a position to access the feelings he needed since he was actually lacking his youngsters. Matt said that he will never break that rule again after that.
Matt Damon had also shared that before getting the position as Leslie Groves, United States Army Corps of Engineers officer, in the 2023 film Oppenheimer, he told Luciana he would take time off after a busy couple of years that includes in a number of tasks.
He recalled in Entertainment Weekly‘s Around the Table with Oppenheimer director Christopher Nolan and his costars Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, and Robert Downey Jr. that he had to “negotiate” with his spouse to participate in the biographical WWII movie.
“I had — not to get too personal — negotiated extensively with my wife that I was taking time off. I had been in Interstellar, and then Chris put me on ice for a couple of movies, so I wasn’t in the rotation, but I actually negotiated in couples therapy — this is a true story — the one caveat to my taking time off was if Chris Nolan called. This is without knowing whether or not he was working on anything, because he never tells you. He just calls you out of the blue. And so, it was a moment in my household,” Matt explained.
