Countryfiles Adam Henson forced to halt show as guest | UK News
Countryfile got here to a sudden halt as one guest was forced to abandon his interview with Adam Henson. Sunday (May 10) night time’s instalment of the BBC show adopted Adam and Charlotte Smith on their go to to Oswestry Livestock Market, one of the area’s largest weekly cattle and sheep markets.
Watching over the livestock is auctioneer Jon Bevan, who spoke to Adam about what goes on behind the scenes.
At one level, Adam requested Jon how a lot the stock passing through the market was price.
“The value of stock has risen quiet dramatically over the past couple of years and on big sales it can be into millions,” Jon admitted.
As Adam went to reply, his consideration rapidly turned to what was taking place just in entrance of him.
“Oh, you’ve just lost some sheep,” he told Jon.
The digicam then panned to two sheep escaping from their pen, prompting Jon to call for help from his co-workers as he sprinted after them, abruptly cutting the interview short.
As the show ground to a halt, Adam determined to help Jon spherical up the sheep, leaping over the railing and working off into the gap.
“With some quick reactions and teamwork, these escapees are back in the shake of a lamb’s tail,” he said.
“It was going to happen,” Jon laughed. “I was kind of hoping it would be a little bit later.”
During another half of the interview, Jon opened up about the logistics behind the operation, telling Adam: “I think a lot of people don’t necessarily see what goes on behind the scenes, both in terms of paperwork but also the health and safety, hygiene, etc.
Adam then asked: “And with regards to the foundations and rules about transferring the sheep, what have they got to do?”
Jon explained: “Each farmer will fill in a licence which is able to inform us how many they’re bringing in. It will also give us their flock numbers. We then ebook them in, they’re weighed. We then pen them into suitable-sized heaps.”
Adam acknowledged that Jon’s job is made slightly easier by the fact that every sheep has an electronic chip in its ear.
Jon agreed, explaining that each sheep is fitted with a tag that is logged onto a software system, allowing the company to keep a record and pass the information on to buyers afterwards.
