Trump to resume military action in Iran | Political News
President Donald Trump is reportedly prepared to resume in depth military action against Iran soon after the short-term ceasefire expires.
“Thirty of the 33 missile websites in the strait still stay, and access has been restored to 30 of 33, said anchor Bill Hemmer. “Is the U.S. military working from sq. one now after this quote-unquote ‘ceasefire,’ normal, beginning now?”
Keane said the Iranian regime wants to “run this clock out” to increase the political and economic pressure on Trump. “And they just don’t care about the struggling of people,” he continued.
“What do they care about? They care about, one, the survival of the regime and themselves. That’s what this is all about. And if they get a negotiated deal, they assume that they’ll get financing to help recuperate the regime. That is what their goal is right here.”
On Sunday, Trump warned that the “clock is ticking” for Iran to act fast or face severe consequences.
“For Iran, the Clock is Ticking, and they better get transferring, FAST, or there received’t be something left of them. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!” he wrote on Truth Social.
Two Middle East sources told the New York Times that the U.S. and Israel are conducting their most extensive military preparations since the ceasefire took effect. Attacks are reportedly expected to resume within days.
Iranian state media said that Washington failed to make any concrete concessions in its latest response to Iran’s proposed agenda for negotiations to end the war.
“The United States, offering no tangible concessions, desires to get hold of concessions that it failed to get hold of during the battle, which is able to lead to an deadlock in the negotiations,” said the Mehr news agency.
Adam Clements, a U.S. foreign policy analyst, told Al Jazeera that while Trump is known for making “bombastic” comments, it’s unclear if his language will be matched by increased U.S. military activity.
Clements added that it would be worth watching wether others in the Trump administration follow the same line of thinking in the coming days. After Trump’s latest Truth Social posts, Clements said it’s “believable” that the president might feel he’s “gone so far” with his rhetoric and that he “cannot flip back.”
“It’s attainable that he [Trump] may do one thing for a few days, a week of a renewed air marketing campaign, and then state that the US military has achieved their military aims and declare a ‘victory’,” said Clements.
