Country star Morgan Wallen knocked over his piano onstage during the first evening of his weekend run in Denver, ending Sand In My Boots without accompaniment after technical issues left him unable to hear the instrument.
Morgan, 33, was performing at Empower Field at Mile High in Colorado on Friday, May 28, when the gear appeared to malfunction mid-track.
A fan-captured video reveals the musician growing visibly pissed off before the toppling. “While playing ‘sand in my boots’ Morgan gets off the piano cause it isn’t [working] as it should,” read the caption on a TikTok clip of the second.
“He finishes acapella then proceeds to push the piano over, breaking it!” Fans reacted to the second on X with combined opinions.
“That’s cool, just flip the piano, I guess. Between this and the chair, Morgan Wallen seems to have some anger issues,” one person penned. Another added, “Stage piano malfunctions and he just flips it. The correct response, actually.”
“That was not good for him but he handled it professionally,” a third added. It was not the first time the singer has despatched furnishings flying.
Morgan was arrested in 2024 after throwing a chair off a rooftop bar in Nashville, Tennessee, and later pleaded guilty to a pair of misdemeanors. The piano incident is unlikely to carry comparable bother, though he’ll need a substitute before his Pittsburgh concert events next week.
The Denver stop is an element of Wallen’s Still The Problem Tour, which kicked off in April in Minneapolis.
An earlier date in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, sparked controversy when opener Ella Langley joined him onstage for their new duet, I Can’t Love You Anymore, a pairing some fans hit out on as political.

The piano outburst is way from Wallen’s only rocky onstage second.
In a March interview with Billboard News, singer Nate Smith admitted he once threw a drink in Wallen’s face during a shared efficiency, calling it a joke that fell flat. Smith said Wallen “should have kicked me off the tour,” but the 2 laughed it off later over FaceTime.
