Taskmaster stars own show dropped after debut series | UK News

A Taskmaster star has reportedly said that his own tv series has been axed.

Comedian and actor Guz Khan — who appeared as a contestant on the Channel 4 panel sport show in 2021 — fronted his own programme about automobiles, which aired on Quest.

However, according to The Sun, he has now confirmed that Guz Khan’s Custom Cars has not been commissioned for a additional series. He reportedly broke the news during a radio interview, revealing there could be “no more” episodes of the show, studies the Mirror.

Speaking on Ed Gamble and Matthew Crosby’s Radio X show, he said: “They did not renew a season two.”

“These things happen,” added the star, who completed third in his series of Taskmaster behind runner-up Desiree Burch and winner Alan Davies.

The series aired earlier this yr, with a synopsis studying: “Comedian Guz Khan takes on the wild world of car modification. With zero mechanical know-how, he teams up with best mate Lumboo and mechanic Darryn, hitting car meets and learning from passionate modders as he builds his own daring custom creation.”

Eight episodes have been broadcast in whole, successful over audiences, with one viewer posting on X at the time: “I was pleasantly surprised… it is actually a good show full of ‘Car Nuts’.”

“This was great!” another person wrote on the platform, previously identified as Twitter, including that Guz — also recognised for Man Like Mobeen, The Last Leg and The Russell Howard Hour — was “hilarious” throughout the series.

Someone else shared their ideas online, posting: “Sooo not my thing… However, found it quite amusing, he doesn’t take anything too seriously.”

“Went in with low expectations but thought it was corny but alright tbh,” said anyone else.

One viewer commented on IMDb.com: “Let’s be honest…. no-one expected much from this, but despite that it IS an enjoyable watch. Provided you’re not a purist about cars, it’s in the title ‘custom cars’.”

They continued: “Is there some moments that miss the mark of humour if you have any idea about cars? Yes. Is it still funny as a whole package? Yes.”

Quest has been approached for remark.
