Jon Rahm says he’s attempting to “stay in his lane” reasonably than observe Bryson DeChambeau’s lead in attempting to salvage LIV Golf’s future. My job is to play golf, and I’ll say it’s hard enough as it is, especially this week.

“But if any participant who is aware of what they’re doing is prepared to do sure issues like that, I believe it may only help. To have insight from a participant on a assembly like that can help, and I’m open for any solutions attainable.

“But I would also say I don’t have the free time that Bryson has to be flying around the country to attend meetings with three little ones and one on the way. Even if I wanted to, I don’t know if I could do it.”

Rahm is under contract with LIV for next season, and it’s understood that the emphasis on workforce golf will grow if the league is to stay in operation in 2027.

The format has yet to be finalized, but Rahm has no objections to O’Neil and the LIV board pursuing that direction.

“I mean, it’s sort of similar to what we do now already as a team,” he said. “It’s an aspect, and it helps. In my case last week, I wasn’t really in with a chance of competing for the win going on Sunday, but I still wanted to put a good score for the team, for the team to finish as high as possible.

“As far as that, I do not suppose it’s going to change my mindset or the best way I approach a match at all. You still need to shoot, or need to shoot, the bottom attainable, whether or not you are taking part in individually or as a workforce. Whether it occurs or not, I do not suppose my approach would change in any way.”

Rahm currently tops the LIV standings through eight events, having claimed two victories. He will carry home-crowd advantage at Valderrama, where the tournament gets underway on Thursday.

However, the Spaniard arrived off the back of a T16 end in South Korea last week — a disappointing end result by his lofty requirements. It marked just the second event he had fallen exterior the top 10 in a LIV event since making his debut in 2024.
