NBA Commish Torches Hakeem Jeffries Trump-Knicks

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver used the time before Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden Monday evening to set the document straight on the foolish accusation made by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) that President Trump, who was in attendance for the New York Knicks-San Antonio Spurs matchup, wasn’t really a Knicks fan and that his presence at the sport was an unwelcome distraction.

Although he did not point out Jeffries by title, Silver clearly had gotten wind of the fact that some on the left have been floating the concept that the president, who grew up in New York City, had no business being at the sport. Nothing might be additional from the reality, said Silver.

“He was a fixture at Madison Square Garden,” he told the ESPN broadcast crew from the ground of the Garden; that crew included retired NBA greats Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley. “You guys remember – all of you – when you played here back in the old days, he had courtside seats. He was here all the time. He was at drafts, so he’s a genuine Knicks fan.”

As RedState’s Sister Toldjah reported earlier Monday, Jeffries used the event of a Capitol Hill press convention to call into query the president’s presence at Game 3. 

During a congressional presser earlier in the day, Jeffries, decked out in a pale pink Knicks hat and seersucker swimsuit, vented his frustrations, questioning whether or not Trump, a longtime Knicks fan, even knew enough about the group to qualify to be a fan.

The visible right here is important. This man has the nerve to call out anybody, a lot less the president of the United States, a man who lived in New York City longer than Jeffries has been alive?

Hakeem Jeffries: “It also just isn’t clear to me that Donald Trump is a big Knicks fan. I imply does this man even know the distinction between Karl Rove and Karl-Anthony Towns?!? I do not suppose so. He’s just injecting himself into the NBA Finals because he always has to carry the MAGA circus into city and that’s unlucky.”

Speaking of unlucky, that pink hat is not doing Jeffries any favors. Not to point out the fact that even a sporting event must be distilled down to politics in the bizarro world of Democrats. Jeffries would do properly to ponder the smart phrases of Commission Silver, who also commented before the sport, “I think we should be using sports to create more of a sense of community with people, not less.”
