Fox News halted as Donald Trump boasts about Iran | TV Shows
President Donald Trump revealed how he’ll release his proposed peace deal with Iran to the press.
On June 16, Fox News halted its common programming and live-streamed President Trump, 80, in Evian-les-Bains, France. While the president was attending the G7 summit, he held a press briefing to focus on the latest developments in the peace deal with the Middle Eastern nation. A signing ceremony for the peace deal is set to happen at Switzerland’s mountain resort, Burgenstock, on June 19.
While sitting in his chair, going through the digicam, Trump began with, “I will actually not only release it, but I’ll also probably have a press conference and read it to you word-by-word.
“so that the press covers it precisely. Because it is, it is a very important doc,” he went on.
“And, not like Obama, who might have destroyed the Middle East with a horrible JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action), it’s the worst settlement. That was a highway to a nuclear weapon. Mine is a wall against a nuclear weapon,” he closed.
Trump mentioned, “Here’s what it says. Iran will never have a nuclear weapon. That’s what it says. It won’t have one. To buy, to develop. They will not have a new nuclear weapon. And I would say that’s about 99.9% of what I wanted because we couldn’t let that happen…in addition to that, the Strait is going to be open toll-free, and it’s toll-free beyond the 60 days.”
Meanwhile, Iran’s top diplomat signaled that the tentative deal to end the war with the United States would require Israel to withdraw from Lebanon — a condition that Israel has already rejected and that could sink the potential agreement, leading to the war to resume once again.
Although Israel is not a party to the agreement, it is part of the current war. It joined the U.S. in launching strikes on Iran on February 28, and has since fought the Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said, “Without the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the territories they occupied during this battle, the battle has not absolutely come to an end.”
