Burns elaborated on his relationship with his father, Tom, a big pal of President Donald Trump, and the affect he is had on Sam’s {golfing} journey. “That’s kind of how I got into it,” he said. “We were always a football family really. My dad and brother both played college football. I would just kind of go — they both played golf too, and I would just go out there and run around and mess with them.

“Mainly I began utilizing a golf membership as a weapon against my older brother. He’s eight years older. Had to defend myself with one thing. Yeah, that’s sort of how I acquired into it. Then one summer season my mother — I always went to a summer season camp, and I just requested her, like, hey, instead of going to the summer season camp, do you thoughts just dropping me off in the morning and decide me up at darkish? I’d manner quite do that. She’s, like, sure. So I did that.

“That’s kind of how I fell in love with it. I was fortunate to grow up with some kids that were much better players than me, and I hated losing to them. That’s kind of how I just naturally fell in love with the game.

“But my mother and father never pushed me to follow, never pushed me to play tournaments, never told me I needed to go work on one thing. They just sort of allowed me to comply with my desires and let me work out why I really like the sport on my own.”
