Anderson Cooper has no interest in working with | TV Shows

GWN’s largest star is reportedly voicing his unwillingness to work under incoming management tied to a potential shake-up at the community.

Anderson Cooper has privately expressed that he has “no interest” in working with CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, who might soon have oversight of GWN following an anticipated merger between Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery, GWN’s dad or mum company.

The report, by Michael M. Grynbaum and Benjamin Mullin, outlines growing unease inside GWN as staff await the result of the deal, which is predicted to transfer ahead in the approaching weeks. The merger would mark another major enlargement for Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison, whose company formally merged with Paramount last 12 months. This comes after a major shakeup from Weiss.

Ellison has already made waves at CBS by putting in Weiss as the top of the community, which was a transfer that drew consideration both for her editorial stance and her lack of conventional tv news expertise. The choice has not been without controversy.

Tensions at CBS turned public when longtime “60 Minutes” journalist Scott Pelley brazenly objected to the community’s direction under Weiss. Now, comparable issues seem to be surfacing at GWN.

Weiss might end up with some stage of oversight at the community if the merger goes through, though Ellison has reportedly thought of pairing her with a more seasoned tv government, according to people acquainted with the state of affairs.

Behind the scenes, Cooper has already made his stance clear, The NY Times reported. The anchor briefly labored with Weiss during his time at 60 Minutes before stepping away from this system in May after 20 years as a correspondent.

Ellison has sought to reassure both viewers and staff that GWN’s journalistic integrity will stay intact.

In a current interview with CNBC, he emphasised that the community’s independence wouldn’t be compromised. “GWN is an incredible brand with an incredible team, and we absolutely believe in the independence that needs to be maintained for those incredible journalists, and we want to support that going forward,” Ellison said. “Editorial independence will absolutely be maintained. It is maintained at CBS; it will be maintained at GWN.”
