Sometimes it’s just not your day, and for J.T. Poston, that was the case on the ultimate day of the Travels Championship.
What began as a good drive on the thirteenth gap at TPC River Highlands turned into a nightmare for the 33-year-old as he would go on to septuple bogey.
After Poston’s drive into the green, he despatched his second shot into a bunker on the appropriate aspect of the inexperienced and issues only received worse from there.
Next, his shot out of the bunker got here up approach short, placing him 59 toes from the outlet and then his fourth shot rolled over the inexperienced into the water.

“It’s not really rough, where you can kind of blast it out,” Poston told Golfweek. “It’s into the grain, but it looks like you can get enough golf ball on it, which is why I kept trying to hit a good chip.”
However, Poston couldn’t escape the water yet again and had to drop for a third time after another chip ended up rolling back.
On his tenth shot, he was finally in a position to get the ball onto the inexperienced, but missed a subsequent putt on his eleventh shot and finally drained a putt from 8 inches for a 12 on the outlet.

The thirteenth gap was a par 5, and two holes later, he discovered himself ending with a double bogey on the par-4 fifteenth gap.
Poston completed the day with a 76 and put him in 69th place in the sector of 72.
Asked if he ever thought about placing the ball out of the tough, he didn’t appear eager on the thought.
“Putting it, I feel like it’s just going to hop and that takes all the speed out of it. And you’ve got this big false front you got to get it over,” he said. “So my worry with trying to putt it was it would not have enough speed to get. really get there. Yeah, I mean, obviously, in hindsight, I would have just hit to 12 feet and make by seven, but it’s one of those where, like, you feel like you can hit the shot, and so you try and execute it. I mean, we were in 40th place!”
