President Donald Trump announced Monday morning that Iran has allegedly “requested” to have a meeting with U.S. delegates in Doha.
Taking to Truth Social, Trump wrote, “IRAN HAS REQUESTED A MEETING. IT WILL TAKE PLACE TOMORROW IN DOHA! President DJT.” No other particulars got at the time of the post.
Trump’s claims come as both the U.S. and Iran have agreed to “stand down” after exchanging strikes in the Strait of Hormuz. “Technical talks are slated to continue on all areas of the MoU [memorandum of understanding],” an official told The Hill on Sunday.
“Both sides will stand down for now, and vessels can move freely,” they added.
