Spice Girls star Melanie C has opened up about her chilling encounter with Britain’s infamous paedophile, Jimmy Savile. The 52-year-old hitmaker opened up about the “very uncomfortable” interplay with the previous Top of the Pops star during an look on The Louis Theroux Podcast, where they mentioned the Spice World movie and its edits.

While speaking about the 1997 movie, Melanie abruptly talked about that she had met Savile. She told the broadcaster: “I met Jimmy [Savile] as well. Yeah, I did one of the breakfast shows, whether it was GMT or whatever it was called at the time.

“And I used to be on the couch next to him, and I used to be in the elevate with him, and he made me really feel very uncomfortable. I believe he was even a little bit, he was fairly previous at the time, I believe he was nearly a little bit inappropriate on the air. He was just, he was him, let’s not give him any airtime.”

Disgraced TV presenter Savile, whose wicked crimes only came to light after his death in 2011, was the focus of one of Louis Theroux’s early documentaries. In the year 2000, Theourx interviewed Sacile in areas across the UK, quizzing him about his life and career so far.

During the documentary, Louis asked Savile about the growing speculation about whether he was a paedophile. Savile simply replied: “[We] live in a very humorous world. And it is simpler for me, as a single man, to say, ‘I do not like youngsters’ because that places a lot of salacious tabloid people off the hunt…

“How do they know whether I am [a paedophile] or not? How does anybody know whether I am? Nobody knows whether I am or not.” Before transferring on to the next matter, the presenter bluntly acknowledged: “I know I’m not.”

Since Savile’s crimes have been uncovered, Louis has mentioned how he feels about the documentary, realizing now that the Top of the Pops star had lied on digicam. Speaking to the Mirror in 2020, he admitted he did not remorse making the TV particular but wished he had had the chance to uncover Savile for who he actually was.

He told the outlet: “If you’re asking, ‘Do I wish I’d made that programme and been able to expose him?’ I mean, it’s a bit like saying, ‘Do I wish I could turn cheese into chocolate? Do I wish I could fly? Do I wish I could go back in time and predict the outcome of the World Cup and make millions of pounds?

“‘Do I want I may go back and expose Jimmy Savile as a intercourse offender?’ Yeah, of course. If I did that story with a time machine and I went back again, I might be armed with so a lot more data. But I actually assume that, given what we knew then, it is a piece of work that holds up.”
