Mamdani aide clashes with ABC after View labels | TV Shows

A top aide to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani reportedly went off on ABC executives after The View co-host Sara Haines labeled a socialist congressional candidate an antisemite on-air.

The behind-the-scenes conflict got here after Haines, 48, made the comment during a June 24 episode of the daytime discuss show, concentrating on Democratic congressional candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier, who is one of three candidates Mamdani endorsed in the New York primaries.

The remark didn’t sit nicely with City Hall. According to a report from Semafor, one of Mamdani’s aides privately expressed fury to ABC community executives following the section. The aide’s id was not disclosed, but their message was clear: the rhetoric may have penalties.

The aide reportedly warned that Haines’ remarks may have an effect on whether or not Mamdani himself — along with other democratic socialist candidates — could be prepared to seem on “The View” in the future.

According to Semafor, that warning is tied to an ongoing Federal Communications Commission equal-time inquiry involving this system, which has made reserving political figures more difficult.

The timing of the conflict is notable. On July 6, an expose revealed particulars of the aide’s response, bringing the personal dispute into public view.

Just weeks earlier, Mamdani, 34, had thrown his assist behind three progressive candidates in the New York congressional primaries: Brad Lander, Claire Valdez, and Darializa Avila Chevalier. All three went on to win against Democratic establishment-backed opponents, marking a vital second for town’s progressive wing.

Haines’ feedback got here shortly after Mamdani made headlines himself, delivering what was seen as a thinly veiled swipe at President Donald Trump during remarks tied to the America 250 celebrations, criticizing what he described as “cheap tricks.”
