Host Sean Hannity drew criticism after condemning the content of Dr. Anthony Fauci’s publicly-released diary entries.

During the July 30 episode of Fox News‘ Hannity, the conservative commentator addressed Dr. Anthony Fauci’s Senate listening to on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. The 85-year-old doctor appeared before the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. Despite the listening to focusing on the origins of COVID-19, Fauci declined to testify and invoked the Fifth Amendment on a number of events.

The broadcast displayed an entry from his diary, where Fauci famous, “Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham, who almost every night, say something about me that is about me that is a total lie and would under other circumstances be extremely libelous.”

Hannity remarked, “Of course, like any good diary, he gossips about people he doesn’t like. Oh, including yours truly!

He went on, “Accusing other Fox News hosts and me of mendacity, calling us stooges. Even trashing me for wanting to open up rapidly and end the shutdown, after COVID was contained.”

Hannity read aloud, “He called up Sean Hannity to schmooze about TV scores. I’m not kidding.”

Audiences flocked to social media to mock Hannity, whose pride appeared wounded, asserting he wasn’t even concerned about Fauci’s refusal to testify. One individual commented, “Poor baby! Get over your self! The reality is tough to swallow, Sean!”.

Another added, “Hannity complains that Fauci called him and Laura Ingraham liars and stooges in his diary.. The fragile ego on this man!”.

A third remarked, “Fauci is licensed to make those claims about you both. Neither of you holds the same license or has the schooling he has spent a lifetime buying.”

However, Hannity did have one defender who stated, “Of course, Fauci was trash-talking real journalists in his diary. Guy lied for years, now we see the insecure reality.”

Following a subpoena from Sen. Rand Paul, the veteran infectious disease specialist invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination, citing what he characterized as the Republican chairman’s “apparent obsession with calling for my prosecution” as justification for declining to reply questions, reviews the Mirror US.

Addressing the committee, Fauci said, “However, given Senator Paul’s apparent obsession with calling for my prosecution, his repeated slanderous feedback about me, and not too long ago his publicly releasing my un-redacted personal diary aimed at embarrassing and intimidating me, the only conclusion I can attain is that the only motive he’s calling me before this committee is to get me to say one thing, something, that may vindicate his repeated public pledges that I end up in his phrases, quote, behind bars, unquote.”
