“And that’s all those that are already in these hotels in these HMOs and all these different camps, because it’s not fair to the English taxpayer. It’s not on, it’s not right, and it needs to stop.”

It did not take long for viewers to flock to X – previously identified as Twitter – to share their frustrations online. One person argued: “I have zero faith in Burnham or his dodgy cabinet,” as another agreed: “This Government just gets worse and worse.” A 3rd requested: “Were you this bothered when Boris went on holiday?”

And he is not the only politician who fears Mr Burnham might take back his choice. On Tuesday (August 4), Labour MP Graham Stringer branded Burnham’s choice to jet off on his vacation a “mistake” and said he believes the Prime Minister will come to remorse it.
