Bryson DeChambeau expressed help for Yasir Al-Rumayyan’s sudden go to to LIV Golf New York, even as Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) prepares to end its financial backing of the league.

PIF Governor Al-Rumayyan joined Donald Trump’s group at the president’s Bedminster resort in New Jersey on Sunday’s remaining spherical, observing Joaquin Niemann declare the person championship.

Al-Rumayyan’s presence at Bedminster raised eyebrows, contemplating the PIF, which has bankrolled LIV since its inception 4 years in the past, plans to withdraw its backing by month’s end, despite earlier commitments extending past 2030. He also hinted that Al-Rumayyan and the $1.2 trillion PIF may continue to affect the game’s future. “I think we all found out last night that he was going to be out here,” DeChambeau said. “I think he needed to have some conversations with the president. That was a whole ‘nother thing. I’m not going to get involved with that.

“But it was great to see him out right here. I believe he is achieved wonders for us and the global recreation of golf. How it strikes ahead, I believe there’s a great place for the PIF and where they need to be transferring ahead.

“Where that is, I’m not exactly sure. I have no idea. But I know that he’s supported golf for a long, long time, and as this transitions over hopefully into the new investor’s hands and into the players’ hands, and that’s what it’s going to be, in the players’ hands, we really have an opportunity to align a lot of the global incentives to be a force for good for the game.

“I do know that’s a lot of wordiness, but we would like to convey worth to anyplace and in every single place for the sport of golf. That’s our objective.”

Earlier in the week, DeChambeau shared his vision for LIV Golf, should it finalize a deal with BC Partners, the private equity firm that has agreed terms in principle with the league. The 32-year-old also made clear his desire to compete on the PGA Tour.

“My final objective is to have golf course stadiums, comparable to the PGA Tour’s TPC Sawgrass model, with our groups having their own golf course as a stadium,” he told the New York Post.

“Personally, I’d love to give you the chance to play occasions on the PGA Tour, too. I believe that’s best for golf. I’d love that. It’s not an either/or mentality. It’s ‘can we do both?’ I believe that’s where everyone desires to be.

“There isn’t a golf fan on the planet who doesn’t want to see me play a big tour event, and I get that. I’d love to go play events that make sense, love to play team golf, and love to play wherever they’ll let me.”
