My partner refuses to draw boundaries with his…

DEAR ABBY: I’ve been in a relationship with a man for three years and residing with him for the past two. He has two married daughters and seven grandkids. Before I entered his life, he had an open-door coverage. He allowed them to go to whenever they needed, and they still have keys to his home.

My partner and I usually are not on the same web page concerning boundaries and privateness. While I perceive the significance of youngsters spending time with their dad and mom, his daughters go to him two to 3 times a week.

I work full time, and yesterday, after a long day at the workplace, I arrived home at 6 p.m. to discover his youngest daughter and her three children there with the home in disarray. They stayed for dinner and lingered afterward.

I used to be exhausted, so I went to mattress around 8 p.m., but as I lay there, I couldn’t help considering it may be time for me to transfer out or depart the connection fully. I’ve often felt like I don’t have a voice when it comes to residing in his home and that my emotions don’t appear to matter. Am I unsuitable to really feel this approach? — INVADED IN IOWA

DEAR INVADED: No, you aren’t. What your gentleman pal and his youngsters haven’t taken into account is that he no longer lives alone, and an extra particular person wants to be thought-about. If, after working a full day, you don’t really feel up to entertaining his youngsters and grandchildren, it’s best to at least have some warning about what you may be going through when you get home. That you weren’t consulted was thoughtless.

If, after you could have mentioned this, he continues to do it without consulting you, it’s best to completely get a place of your own. Continue to see him if that’s an option, but create some distance.

DEAR ABBY: I’ve had a core group of mates for nearly 20 years. Some have children, but I don’t. We all met doing theater. I thought-about many of them my closest mates. Last month, six of them, all of whom have children the same age, based a new theater company, which is cool, but I used to be not notified or consulted.

I’ve acted in and stage-managed many reveals with all of them, as properly as performed music for their reveals. They’re now producing a musical with my other best pal from out of state. Why am I being excluded? Am I loopy for feeling upset that I’m not being included? Is it because I don’t have children and they do? Should I just transfer on and discover new mates? — THEATER GUY

DEAR THEATER GUY: You usually are not loopy for feeling not noted. As to why they didn’t point out this enterprise to you, I’m not the particular person it’s best to ask. Is this a youth-oriented theater company? If so, they could have assumed you wouldn’t need to take part. Now that about it, offer to help with the show. If they refuse, that can be your second to inquire about the explanations.
