In the winter, most fish take a break, relocate to deeper waters and enter a hibernation-like state to save vitality for the spring.
Not Phish though.
Dating back to December 1994, the legendary jam band has performed New Year’s Eve live shows in late December and early January at Madison Square Garden.
This yr will likely be no different.
Trey Anastasio and co. just lined up 4 large reveals at the Knicks and Rangers home — their 97th, 98th, 99th and one hundredth at the Garden — to ring in 2027. They’re scheduled to happen:
Wednesday, Dec. 30
7:30 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 31
7:30 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 1, 2027
7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 2, 2027
7:30 p.m.
Tickets for these milestone live shows formally turn out to be accessible to the common public on major market websites like Ticketmaster on Friday, Oct. 16.
You don’t have to wait until then, though. Inventory is up and prepared for buy on secondary market websites for Phans hoping to secure seats forward of time.
If you’re hoping to attend the live performance with the cheapest tickets, we advocate going on Wednesday, Dec. 30. Prices start at $382 including charges on Vivid Seats for that night.
Their other reveals have seats beginning anyplace from $446 to $582 including charges.
And, while that sounds costly, it’s onerous to put a price on an expertise as joyous as a Phish NYE gig.
“Trey, Fish, Mike, and Page have built their singular resume through 40+ years of unwavering commitment to turning their absurd brand of (good) humor into strangely beautiful and meaningful art,” Live For Live Music wrote in an overwhelmingly constructive review of the group’s ice cream-themed 2025 New Year’s Eve live performance at MSG.
“[Their] New Year’s gag was great for all the right reasons: It excited us, it made us laugh, it made us ask what the hell is going on, it put a nostalgic spotlight on the long, weird, over-the-top history of Phish on New Year’s Eve and, most importantly, it gave the band optimal space to do what it does best rather than prioritizing the bells and whistles.”
We can’t wait to see what they create to the stage this yr.

Phish new music
On July 12, 2024, Phish dropped their formidable sixteenth studio album “Evolve.”
As anticipated, the band utterly surprises. No two songs are alike right here; their only connection is the cosmically in-sync ensemble.
Personally, we had been most taken with the slinky, bass-y, mysterious “Hey Stranger,” upbeat toe-tapper “A Wave Of Hope” and slow burn “Monsters.”
Be sure to strive the restrained Beatles-esque “Valdese,” too. It’s not possible not to crack a smile while listening.

What’s it like to see Phish live?
In December 2023, the New York Post spoke with comic Max Fine about what it’s like to attend a Phish live performance.
“It’s not like anything you’ve ever seen because it’s never happened before,” the Phan explained.
“Every show is special and unique because they don’t plan for it. You get to be whoever you want at a Phish show.”
