Jets Aaron Glenn pushes back on confusion over…

Aaron Glenn claims he wasn’t confused — but we had been.

Trailing 17-3 at halftime of Sunday’s loss at New England, the Jets head coach went to the locker room wanting worse than his workforce after an interview with CBS sideline reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala in which Glenn appeared to mistakenly state that his offense would start the second half with the ball.

“I told our guys, ‘We’re moving the ball, [but] the thing is, we just have to finish,’” Glenn said. “Our guys will be ready to go. The good thing is we get the ball. We get a chance to go move it and finish.”

Though Glenn’s assertion appears to go away no room for interpretation, the second-year head coach pushed back on the notion that he was confused during Monday morning’s press convention.

“No, I actually talked about just the offense,” Glenn said. “I feel they had been speaking about sustaining drives, and my dialog with them is when the offense will get the ball back, man, we wish to give you the option to maintain a drive and go rating.

“Then when the defense gets back on, we want to make sure we stop them and get the ball back to our offense. That’s what I was talking about when it comes to that. The conversation was talking about the offense at that time.”

The Jets did end up stopping the Patriots on downs and scoring a landing on their first offensive drive of the second half to the cut the lead to 17-10.
