U2 new music
Before the release of “Carnaval de Luz,” U2 has launched a trio of singles.
Up first is the fist-pumping anthem “Street Of Dreams,” which options an auto-tuned, angelic-sounding Bono until the track hits a more acquainted register, marrying The Edge’s trademark strummy, measured guitar with Bono’s impassioned vocals. For our money, it’s a highly effective rallying cry that also occurs to be a burst of pleasure.
“Silencio” is a bit more of a simple rocker with a punk streak operating throughout. Tempo adjustments from hard-charging to slowed-down quieter moments will keep you on your toes questioning where U2 goes until the party-like refrain erupts. WARNING: you’ll be singing this one in the bathe for months.
That well-known U2 sound — where the six-string sounds just like the pitter-patter of rain — permeates throughout the beautiful “The Greatest Show On Earth.” By far the longest monitor of the three singles, it’s a showstopper that builds stress until giving listeners a candy release via Bono’s joyful yelps.
