Lobbyists Are Subverting Trump Administrations

Calley Means is an American health activist and entrepreneur, the founder of Truemed, a company that labored to allow tax-advantaged medical spending on health merchandise. He also served as a senior adviser at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), focusing on food and nutrition coverage, from 2025 until he resigned in October. He was a key participant in HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) program.

Recently, on Joe Rogan’s podcast, Mr. Means introduced some of his causes for leaving the administration.

WARNING: LANGUAGE

The coverage course of is damaged. It has to be fixed structurally. It’s simple. But money in politics is a big f**king deal. And the leaders of the federal government – not President Trump – that I’ve seen. But you understand, Susie Wiles, and she’s the same as many others, left, proper, use this significance of money as an excuse to principally, be antagonistic to what voters said, and you understand, help gasoline station heroin. Help vaping. Help, you understand, pharma corporations. Help glyphosate. Those are, like… That’s the problems that was being pushed out from the White House. It wasn’t healthy food. At all. I had to f**king bulldoze that stuff. 

And, I’m like, if we’re going to block faculty lunches, and a quarter-page definition of ultra-processed food, that does not even have a regulatory affect, when Bobby Kennedy is the most widespread determine in America, this is the most widespread half of the home coverage, not to point out that it is just critically important for the future of America that we continue to transfer the pattern away from ultra-processed meals, which is actually destroying our nation. And just listening to, just the lies, the mendacity to my face, you understand, I’m like… The journey’s still going. I imply, my objective, I feel we’re in early levels, I’m really optimistic, I did what I felt was the best factor to do at the time, and I feel when this sort of subversion is occurring, perhaps the best factor you are able to do is inform the reality. 

That’s some fairly harsh speak. But this sort of factor is not uncommon for second-term presidencies, particularly during the midterms, even more so after midterms, where the president’s social gathering has taken a real beating, as, candidly, what just occurred in our 2026 midterms. These always immediate some finger-pointing, and some people will depart, some will change jobs, and some shall be tossed out. It occurred under Bill Clinton in 1994, it occurred under Barack Obama in 2020, and it is occurring now. 

Secretary Kennedy, meanwhile, has a new ally in a key place: The new White House chief of employees.

Next to me, Stephen Miller is the strongest MAHA supporter in the administration. It’s time to unleash the Kraken.

“Kraken” is probably not too strong a phrase for the moderately combative Mr. Miller, and we must always all look ahead to seeing him in this position. It’s going to be roundly entertaining.

Mr. Means, on Saturday morning, also took to his X account to sound a more optimistic tone.

There’s a revolution occurring in the Trump administration proper now. I’m shocked about who I’m listening to from – senior leaders throughout the federal government who are prepared to take off the shackles and get BIG issues carried out for the American people – which is what @StephenM and @POTUS need. I can’t stress this enough: some of President Trump and RFK’s strongest marketing campaign guarantees deal with institutional reform that democrats ran on too – not innately partisan points. Don’t let the media speak us down. We can get BIG issues carried out in the next 12 months – and Americans need that.
